Description
This small tree or shrub originates from South Africa and is the only member of its genus. It has narrow, pointed leaves.
It gets its name from the fact that the ripe fruits resemble Chinese paper lanterns. They are pink to rose-colored and hollow inside. They are reminiscent of the fruits of the Cape gooseberry ( Physalis ), but are not closely related and are not edible. After flowering, they remain on the branches and shrub for a long time.
The fruits are spread by the wind. However, they are too heavy to be blown around in the air, so instead they roll across the steppe as "tumbleweeds".
You will receive a young plant in a 7cm square pot.
