Description
Pachira aquatica is a tree belonging to the mallow family (Malvaceae) and is originally from the tropical regions of the Americas. Its palmate leaves are somewhat reminiscent of chestnut leaves, but feel thicker and leathery, and have a glossy sheen. The trunk is characteristically thickened towards the base and becomes bottle-shaped in older specimens. The flowers are large and two-toned, red/orange and white, with numerous stamens that give them a slightly shaving brush-like appearance.
