Description
Paphiopedilum helenae is a dwarf lady's slipper orchid from northern Vietnam and southern China. It grows in detritus-filled crevices in steep limestone cliffs within semi-evergreen, open dry forests. It is one of the smallest Paphiopedilum species, with a leaf span of approximately 10 to 15 cm. The yellow/white flowers, measuring 5 to 6 cm, are comparatively enormous and borne on rather short stalks. They appear from late summer to autumn.
Although it is a rather rare species, it comes in several different color variations. The lip can be pink or brown, the other petals light yellow to dark. It grows easily even on a windowsill, but in a terrarium, it can also be kept on a "steep wall" (i.e., attached to the back wall), just as it would be in nature.
You will receive a flowering plant in a 6 cm pot.
