Description
A very small, pretty mini-Phalaenopsis.
Anyone familiar only with "normal" Phalaenopsis orchids from brick-and-mortar stores will likely be very surprised by how tiny this plant is compared to typical hybrids. It's a true miniature orchid, with a leaf span of only about 10 cm when fully grown. The flowers are correspondingly small, only about 1 cm in diameter, but look typical of Phalaenopsis orchids . The variety offered here has a yellowish hue with fine pink dots and stripes on the lip. Unlike other mini-Phalaenopsis, this species does not have a winter dormancy period and does not lose its leaves. Under good conditions, it blooms several times a year and does not have a distinct flowering season. The flower stalks can reach about 20 cm in length and bear 3 to 10 flowers.
Different databases disagree on the name for this widespread species. Some list it as a separate species, Phalaenopsis hookeriana , while others only consider it a subspecies of Phalaenopsis deliciosa .
You will receive a flowering plant in a 6 cm orchid pot. Many of them will have buds or be in bloom!
