Piper ornatum

A decorative, trailing to creeping pepper plant from Malaysia and Indonesia with beautiful, large, pink-patterned leaves. This species is quite vigorous and grows surprisingly large.

This pepper plant has a highly contrasting pattern on its peltate leaves, which can grow up to 25 cm in size. The leaf veins are sunken and bright pink in young leaves, later turning pink. A few pink speckles between the veins complete the pattern. The areas between the veins and speckles are dark green and slightly bullate.

In low light, the initial pink color remains, while in high light the leaves tend to become silvery with age.

You will receive a strong young plant in a 9 cm square pot. Approximately 10-20 cm long.



Please note: Piper species are very sensitive to temperature. The plants will only be shipped again in styrofoam boxes with heat packs once nighttime temperatures are consistently between 12 and 15 °C. This may not be until the end of February or even March. Until then, paid plants will remain in our greenhouse and are reserved for you. Orders containing Piper species will NOT be split into partial shipments.
