Description
This piper probably originates from the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo, from the province of West Kalimantan. Unfortunately, we have no further information about its origin and distribution.
This species is certainly one of the most intensely patterned pepper varieties. The leaves are olive-green to almost black, and the veins are very fine and have a vibrant, net-like pink pattern. Unlike other pipers, this pattern is retained even in large plants and is not only present in the creeping, juvenile stage. It grows rather slowly, and like most pipers , this species prefers to climb, only then developing larger and differently shaped leaves. The leaves on climbing stems become more elongated and pointed. The leaves on creeping stems are broader and more rounded.
With proper care, this species also forms numerous so-called "protein bodies" on the undersides of its leaves. It should only be kept in a terrarium, as it requires high humidity.
You will receive a young plant in a 7 cm square pot.
