Description
The floating liverwort, Riccia fluitans , is found almost worldwide in temperate to subtropical regions and usually grows in shallow, sunny, mesotrophic waters. In its floating form, it grows as a dense mat of thalli only about 1 mm wide at the surface, held in place by tiny, air-filled floats. It can also grow submerged, forming spherical cushions. It can also grow on land, where the thalli are somewhat wider and the growth less compact.
The liverwort is a so-called poikilophilic plant, meaning it can survive complete desiccation. It can remain completely dry for more than six months and quickly regrows after watering.
It is easy to cultivate in both paludariums and aquariums and grows very quickly under good conditions.
Instructions for in-vitro plants: These plants are supplied in sterile cups containing a sterile nutrient solution and are intended for immediate use. Plants in in-vitro cups cannot be stored for long periods. Therefore, please open and plant them immediately upon receipt. To do this, thoroughly rinse the nutrient solution under running water. Divide the plants from the cup into portions of the desired size and plant them. When using them as terrarium plants, keep them very moist initially and pay attention to hygiene (avoid mold, etc., in the terrarium). Opened in-vitro plants are non-returnable.
You will receive one portion in a 6cm in-vitro cup.
