[expand Title=" Details about the plant "]
Selaginella harrisii originates from southern Mexico. There, it grows in shady, moist habitats in riverine forests, at altitudes of 400 to 2000m in close proximity to small streams and rivers, often on limestone rocks.
The growth form of Selaginella is very unusual. The rhizome grows as a dense clump from which new stems emerge in a circular pattern. These are initially unbranched and upright, then develop side branches and bend outwards. This can lead to the plant being mistaken for a fern at first, or perhaps even second, glance. In our experience, the plant does not spread via runners but always remains a single bundle of stems.
This species unfortunately grows very slowly. New stems, from the first appearance of a new trunk to full development, take 2 to 3 months for larger plants. Therefore, we offer them as quite small plants that don't necessarily look like the adults yet. It takes about 9 to 12 months for them to develop their typical growth form.

You will receive a young plant in a 7cm pot.
Please note: The small twigs of this type break very easily. Even with very good packaging, some pieces will likely break off after shipping. Unfortunately, this cannot be prevented, but it doesn't significantly harm the plant. Such damage is not grounds for a complaint.
