This Selaginella likely originates from northern Ecuador. Here, it grows as a rather loose, flat ground cover with very small, densely packed leaves. The individual stems reach about 10 cm in length and branch profusely. We keep this species, like all our Selaginella , in relatively low light. It would probably develop a much denser growth habit with more light than the plants shown in the pictures. This species grows quite quickly, but doesn't spread as aggressively as, for example, Selaginella tenuifolia . Due to its very small leaves and delicate growth habit, this species should be kept very moist and is therefore well-suited as an alternative to terrarium mosses!

You will receive a strong, branched plant in a 7cm pot.
Please note: The small twigs of this species break very easily. Even with very good packaging, some pieces will likely break off after shipping. Unfortunately, this cannot be prevented, but it doesn't significantly harm the plant. After an acclimatization period, this species continues to grow quite quickly. Such damage is not grounds for a complaint.
