Description
The grass-like Mikado plant originates from southern Brazil and Uruguay, where it grows in swampy areas of the Pampas. The Pampas are a steppe-like, subtropical grassland with hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters.
It grows as a very close-lying rosette and in summer produces the characteristic flower stalks, which resemble Mikado sticks. Creamy-white flower heads are located at the ends of these stalks, which can reach up to 30 cm in length. It blooms throughout the summer and into autumn.
It belongs to the family of piperoot plants (Eriocaulaceae), which are closely related to grasses (Poaceae).
You will receive a fully grown and normally flowering plant in a 9cm pot.
Please note: Despite our best efforts, flower stalks may break during shipping. We apologize for any inconvenience. It is also not always possible to offer plants with young flower heads. Sometimes they have many flower heads, sometimes fewer. The plants will continue to produce new flower heads throughout the season.
