Description
Begonia ‘Princess of Hanover’ is a B. rex cultivar with fantastic white-and-green leaves featuring a spiral pattern reminiscent of a snail's shell. The leaves and petioles are densely covered with pink to red hairs. Very easy to care for and a real eye-catcher.
This variety closely resembles the famous Begonia ‘Escargot,’ and we, too, sold it under this incorrect name for a long time. Compared to ‘Escargot,’ 'Princess of Hanover' has thicker, fluffier red-to-pink hairs, offers greater contrast, and the light stripe on the leaf is more gray than shiny silver
Begonia ‘Princess of Hanover’ is a larger cultivar. The leaves grow to about 25 cm, and the spiral pattern becomes more pronounced as the leaves get larger. Like all Rex begonias, it is quite seasonal, going dormant in winter and retaining only a few leaves. In the spring, however, it sprouts again in full splendor and can reach its maximum size in just a few months.
You’ll receive a vigorous plant in a 12-cm pot.
Rex begonias go dormant at this time of year and lose their leaves! If you want to keep the plant growing through the winter, you should definitely care for it under a growlight.
