The mammey apple bears heavy, oversized potatoes with orange flesh. In the tree's native regions of the Caribbean and Central America, the fruits are prized as a tasty treat. However, the nearly fist-sized seeds inside the fruit are inedible. Even without fruit, the mammey is a very attractive tree with thick, glossy, dark green leaves and usually abundant branching.
