Description
Anthurium pallidiflorum is native to western Ecuador. It is a member of the section Porphyrochitonium, which is characterised by its epiphytic, trailing growth habit.
Anthurium pallidiflorum is probably the most beautiful member of the section Porphyrochitonium. The leaves, which can grow up to 1.20 metres long, are matt and velvety on the upper surface of adult plants, with numerous tiny, dot-like glands. Its growth habit (in its natural state) is strictly pendulous. The stem grows straight downwards and the leaves of adult plants also hang straight downwards. The petiole is not strong enough to support the weight of the rather thick leaf in an upright position.
The species is surprisingly hardy and easy to care for. It grows quite quickly at sufficiently high temperatures and is robust, making it very well suited to beginners!
