Description
Mineral substrate for particularly sensitive tropical plants. Mimics the substrate of tropical clay cliffs and the jungle floor in the nutrient-poor primary forests of the tropics.
Consisting of:
- Akadama
- Aqua Soil
- Perlite
- Kanuma
- Bamboo charcoal
This substrate is not comparable to common mineral substrates made of lava, pumice, or expanded clay. We developed it ourselves through trial & error in cultivating many tropical plants considered difficult. We use it only for particularly sensitive and valuable small plants that do not thrive in other substrates. These include, for example, Begonias like B. darthvaderiana, baik, chlorosticta, sp. 'Umbrella' and similar, ferns like Teratophyllum rotundifoliatum, rarities like Codonoboea and Ardisia, rheophytes like Josefia intricata or Homalomena sp. 'Silver' and other plants of the tropical undergrowth that grow in deep jungle in shady places or near rivers, etc. In short: All plants of the undergrowth that are generally considered "fussy" in cultivation receive this mix from us and grow significantly better in it.
ASP Mix consists mainly of Akadama (pH-neutral, very fine-pored clay substrate from Japan), Aqua Soil (fine volcanic earth baked into spheres with trace elements), and Perlite (baked obsidian). To slightly lower the pH value, ASP Mix also contains Kanuma (similar to Akadama but with a more acidic pH) and plant charcoal in the form of high-quality bamboo charcoal. ASP Mix is dimensionally stable and rot-resistant and can also be used in very humid terrariums and even paludariums.
After potting the plants in ASP Mix, please rinse thoroughly once with osmosis water until the rinse water runs clear from the pot!
Slightly pre-fertilized due to the Aqua Soil used. Slightly acidic pH. Granulation 4 - 8 mm. 1 liter.
