Calanthe sp. (Garden orchid) - various colors

Calanthes are terrestrial orchids originating from South Asia. Some varieties are winter-hardy, and their distribution extends as far as Japan. This means that with a little protection, they are also fully winter-hardy in our climate! We offer several winter-hardy varieties here.

The flowers appear from spring to early summer on panicles with 3 to 8 flowers. They grow to about 20 cm tall. In autumn, the leaves die back and they overwinter as pseudobulbs in the soil.

Calanthe are somewhat more sensitive to frost than Bletilla and should therefore be well protected over the winter.



You will receive a Calanthe in a 12cm round pot. The available flower colors can be found in the image gallery. The plants are in various growth stages (leafless, leafy, flowering). Therefore, unfortunately, a specific color cannot be selected. If you have a color preference, please write it in the order notes and we will try to accommodate it.
