Description
Columnea schiedeana is an epiphytic gesneria from southern Mexico. It has stems up to 50 cm long and tall, which are surprisingly hard and become woody over time. It branches extensively, with the rather woody stems spreading horizontally from the base.
The leaves grow to about 10 cm long and 2 to 3 cm wide. All parts of the plant are slightly hairy. It is very well suited to humid terrariums and, due to its sturdy structure, also provides good climbing support for terrarium inhabitants.
The most beautiful thing about it is its large blossoms. They are up to 10 cm long and have a yellow base color with a fine, reddish-brown pattern. They hang below the branches and are held at a horizontal angle by stems about 3 cm long. The blossoms are noticeably hairy.
You will receive a rooted cutting in a 7cm pot, approximately 15cm long.
