Description
A small orchid from Yunnan (China) and northern Vietnam, only described as a new species in 2011. It grows epiphytically on smaller branches in subtropical forests at altitudes of 1000 to 2000 meters.
Dendrobium hekouense is a true miniature species. It grows to about 8 to 10 cm in height, of which approximately 2 to 3 cm are the small pseudobulbs and 4 to 6 cm are the leaves.
The striking, whitish flowers are relatively large, measuring approximately 15 to 20 mm across, and have a dark center with a fringed lip. The flowers last for 2 to 3 weeks.
Flowers usually appear during the short dry season in which the plant also sheds its leaves.
You will receive a young plant that is already attached to a vine.
