Hand-crafted, porous clay tube with a lava rock finish. When placed in water or moist soil, the tube absorbs water and draws it all the way to the top. This makes it an ideal growing medium for many tropical plants that grow lithophytic or epiphytic in nature and require constant moisture. No need for tedious misting! All you have to do is fill the saucer.
Plants that are well-suited for placement on the outside of the watering tube include, for example, various small ferns, small orchids such as Bulbophyllum, Lepanthes, Oncidium, and others, small bromeliads, begonias, and so on. If placed in a terrarium with high humidity, it also provides an ideal substrate for moss growth.
Additionally, it cools itself through constant evaporation, creating a cooling effect. This aids in the cultivation of heat-sensitive plants, such as Dendrobium cuthbertsonii and other highland species.
Please always fill the saucer only with low-mineral water, such as rainwater or reverse osmosis water. Tap water contains too many minerals and causes salt crusts to form!
