Description

A truly tiny orchid with pointed leaves and very small, pink flowers.

Lepanthes expansa is native to the province of Esmeraldas in Ecuador. There, it grows in moist montane rainforests at elevations of 750 to 800 meters.

The plant itself is a true mini orchid, growing to just 4 to 6 cm in height. The pointed, slightly thickened leaves are only about 1 to 2 cm long and are borne on 2 to 3 cm stems. The flowers are comparatively tiny, only about 2 mm in size and pink/transparent. It blooms repeatedly and profusely on the same flower stem.

This absolute tiny plant is perfect for the smallest humid terrariums and bottle gardens. It is the smallest Lepanthes species we offer.
