Lepanthes mulleriana

A very pretty micro-orchid with surprisingly large, striped flowers that have a quirky shape.

Lepanthes mulleriana is native to Ecuador. There is no specific collection information available for this species, so it is not known exactly where in Ecuador or at what elevation it grows. However, it can be assumed that, like other small Lepanthes species, it inhabits the intermediate-altitude moist forests at elevations of approximately 500 to 1,500 meters.

The plant itself is a true mini orchid, growing to a size of just 5 to 8 cm. The oval leaves are borne on stems 1 to 2 cm long. The flowers are relatively large, about 1 cm long and wide. They feature attractive yellow and red stripes and are slightly bell-shaped. They form successively along the flower stalks.

This tiny little plant is perfect for the smallest humid terrariums and bottle gardens.
