Description
This very small Medinilla has a trailing habit and surprisingly large, pink flowers. It is native to Madagascar, specifically the Alaotra-Mangoro region in the eastern part of the island.
It grows in humid montane rainforests at elevations of approximately 900 to 1,200 meters, usually on moss cushions on larger trees. Its small, round leaves, measuring about 5 mm, are slightly thickened and, especially in bright light, are very closely spaced.
The flowers are typical of Medinilla—large and pink—but appear singly or in small clusters, not in large clusters like those of the better-known Medinilla magnifica.
It climbs, but rather half-heartedly, and prefers to grow hanging or as a ground cover.
You will receive a plant with several shoots in a 5 cm pot.
