Description
The Swiss cheese plant, Monstera deliciosa, is one of the most widespread Monstera species. It is found throughout the Neotropics, from Mexico to Brazil.
This very stylish cultivar has leaves with striking white variegation, featuring clearly defined white and green patches within which there are, in turn, tiny areas of normal green. Unlike the ‘Albo Variegata’ variety, there is no risk that the variegation will fade as the plant matures, leaving it to produce only green leaves at some stage. The stems and flowers are also white-striped or speckled. In this cultivar, the leaves tend to be round.
Monstera are hemiephytic vines, i.e. they start out as young plants on the forest floor and then climb up trees using their climbing roots. In doing so, they change in size and leaf shape. In their juvenile phase, the leaves are still small and have few or no holes. Shortly after they have found a surface to climb (and, thanks to the extra height, receive more light), the leaves quickly grow much larger and take on their adult form.
You will receive a young plant in a 9 cm pot.
