Description

Neoregelia ‘Betty Head’ is a cultivar of N. ‘Red on Green,’ which in turn is a cultivar of the hybrid N. olens ‘Marie’ x spectabilis.

It is characterized by its very vivid, rich coloring. The leaves are apple green with (when exposed to sufficient light) very beautiful tomato-red spots and bands. It has virtually no white “coating” of scales, which is why the colors appear very, very vivid. It therefore immediately catches the eye and stands out even among other red-colored bromeliads.

It remains quite small. The funnels grow to about 10 to 15 cm tall with a diameter of approximately 15 to 20 cm. Its coloration is only well-defined in bright light. It has slightly serrated leaves. The flowers are light blue with a white center.
