Description

Half a shell of the fruit of the Brazil nut tree (Bertholletia excelsa), a large rainforest tree native to South America. The shells are thick-walled and extremely sturdy. They have a diameter of about 10 cm and a depth or height of about 5 to 8 cm. In a terrarium, they provide an ideal hiding place for numerous small animals, as well as for the young of larger species. They are extremely durable and practically do not decompose. They can also be used as a water dish for larger animals.

Tip: Soak them underwater for about 1 week before using them in the terrarium. This prevents mold from forming when they are placed in the terrarium.
