Description
Pilea repens (now a synonym of Pilea inaequalis ) originates from the Caribbean and Ecuador. There, it grows in both dry and humid locations, mostly on limestone and always in the shade. It is highly variable in form and exhibits great intraspecific variability. The form of Pilea inaequalis formerly known as Pilea repens (the form we sell here) has very small leaves with dark, almost black foliage. The leaves grow to about 2 to 4 cm in length and become very, very dark, almost black, especially in low light. The leaves are densely hairy. The undersides of the leaves are reddish, and the stems are green. It grows as a flat, creeping (" repens ") mat, making it an excellent ground cover even for small terrariums. It can also be successfully grown as a hanging plant.
The flowers are inconspicuous and greenish.
You will receive one plant in a 6 cm pot.
