Description

Also known as Java long pepper, this pepper species is used for seasoning. It is native to Southeast Asia, where it is widely distributed. Although this plant can grow quite large and robust, the young plants have small, heart-shaped leaves measuring 2–4 cm and a delicate growth habit. This makes them very well-suited for terrariums. It is a climbing plant that forms densely branched, thick mats.

The plants offered here repeatedly produce variegated shoots, which develop leaves with a striking white pattern. This variegated form remains quite stable over the long term. However, the majority of the leaves are solid dark green.

Vigorous young plant in a 9-cm square pot. Approx. 20–30 cm long.
