This Selaginella likely originates from northern Ecuador. The species grows very slowly, forming small clumps, about 3 to 5 cm in diameter, as seen in the pictures. This species always seems to grow this way! It doesn't form dense carpets or long runners. Its slow growth unfortunately makes propagation to a saleable size very laborious and time-consuming, which is why we can never offer many specimens. However, it is certainly one of the most interesting Selaginella for terrariums and very small terrariums, and its unique structure immediately draws attention, despite its tiny size. It exhibits a very slight blue iridescence, which is clearly visible in the macro photos but is not readily apparent to the naked eye. To the naked eye, however, the iridescence gives the plant a beautifully rich green appearance.
We keep this species, like all our Selaginella , in rather low light. It would probably have a much denser growth habit with more light than the plant shown in the pictures.

You will receive one plant in a 5cm pot, as pictured.
Please note: The small twigs of this species break very easily. Even with very good packaging, some pieces will likely break off after shipping. Unfortunately, this cannot be prevented, but it doesn't significantly harm the plant. After an acclimatization period, this species continues to grow quite quickly. Such damage is not grounds for a complaint.
