Coconut fibers - terrarium substrate 7.5L/70L

Pre-washed, low-germ coconut fibers. Suitable as bedding for terrariums, and also as a main component for bioactive terrariums and paludariums. Coconut fibers remain stable and airy for years without decomposing and are chemically neutral. They retain water well while being highly permeable, ensuring excellent drainage. Therefore, coconut fibers are also a useful component in substrate mixes for houseplants when improved drainage is desired.

Unlike regular coconut substrate or so-called coconut coir, these coconut fibers are as free as possible from fine particles. A certain residual amount of coconut coir is unavoidable due to the manufacturing process. These fibers, just like our coconut chips, are unpressed and already washed, and therefore salt-free. They can be used directly without the need for further washing. According to our tests, they have a conductivity of less than 350 µS/cm upon first watering. After two to three waterings, the conductivity is < 100 µS/cm. They can therefore be used without hesitation even for very sensitive plants (e.g., carnivorous plants, highland orchids, etc.).

Revised recipe: Now even more uniform and with a small proportion of small coconut chips for even better drainage!

Please note: Our substrates are not mixed and packaged by machine and may therefore sometimes have slightly different compositions. Also, please allow for approximately 10% more substrate when potting due to the need for firming.
