Description
This full-spectrum grow light not only has a spot shape but also focuses the emitted light using built-in lenses. It is now available in two versions with beam angles of 30° or 60° . Compared to a 12W spot or a 20W full-power light, this version achieves high lux levels even at greater distances, especially the 30° version. However, at short distances (<50 cm), only a small area is illuminated, and the light intensity at these distances would only be suitable for a few high-light plants.
You can read about which grow light is right for which application in our comparison blog .
Only highly efficient diodes are used, resulting in a luminous flux of 2800 lumens or 41 μmol/s with a power consumption of only 20W . This corresponds to 140 lm/W or 170% of the luminous efficacy of conventional diodes, including power supply and red components! The system's PPE value is 2.1 μmol/s/W .
Another advantage of the high efficiency is the low heat output , which is quickly dissipated via the painted aluminum housing. This results in a significantly longer lifespan compared to lamps that operate at high temperatures. With a new, even more efficient housing design, we were able to reduce the temperature even further! The grow light can also be placed directly on glass surfaces (e.g., on a terrarium) without any concerns. The base of the lamp is flat to allow for this.
The focused light from this spotlight has a greater depth effect than, for example, linear lights like our Jungle Lux Linear . Therefore, the spotlight should be kept at a slightly greater minimum distance from sensitive plants. It is ideal for accent lighting taller terrariums/paludariums, plant display cases, or plants standing freely in the room.
By combining 5000K (cool white) diodes with a novel 430 nm chip, 3500K (warm white) diodes with a classic 450 nm chip, and 660 nm (red) diodes, we achieve not only an optimal spectrum for plant growth but also a pleasant, neutral white light color with a very high color rendering index ( CRI ~90 ). Thanks to the flattened plateau in the blue range (double peak), this radiation is more readily available to plants at the same intensity, and colors appear more natural. It also combines very well with our equally neutral white Jungle Lux Linear plant lamps in a tube shape.
In addition to these diodes, which emit visible light, so-called " far-red " infrared diodes with a wavelength of 730 nm are also integrated (absolutely unique in this price segment!). These produce light in the near-infrared spectrum, which is invisible to humans but stimulates important physiological processes in plants. These wavelengths are particularly important for leaf coloration in the often beautifully patterned plants of the undergrowth and lead to an increase in biomass in many plants, which in turn allows them to capture more light (see, for example, Wenqing et al. 2021 ).
