Description
We developed this table lamp specifically for terrariums; it offers an integrated timer and dimmer function with optional sunrise and sunset simulation, and can be perfectly adjusted to all necessary sizes thanks to the extendable rod combined with the flexibly adjustable neck.
The integrated dimmer offers 5 different brightness levels. On the lowest level, shade plants such as Selaginella or Begonias can be well-maintained. On the highest level, very light-hungry plants such as carnivores or succulents can also be maintained permanently, as it provides a high illuminance. With the timer function, the lamp can be automatically switched on again at the same time every day. The lamp then remains on for 9 or 12 hours. The automatic sunrise/sunset simulation can be activated via a button, which then slowly increases/decreases the light intensity for half an hour before/after the selected timer period.
The bamboo wood base offers a surface area of 22x24 cm for the small version and 30x32 cm for the large version. The lamp head is the same for both versions. With a maximum extendable total height of 67 cm, jars or similar items up to 60 cm high can be placed underneath. The flexible neck piece also allows the head to be adjusted horizontally by 0-10 cm. The lamp is therefore not only perfectly suited for terrariums, but also for small aquariums such as a DOOA Neo Glass as aquascape lighting, for carnivorous plant bowls or for individual plants that are to be showcased.
Only highly efficient diodes are installed, achieving a luminous flux of 1500 lumens with a power consumption of 12W. This corresponds to 125 Lm/W including power supply and red components. No power-consuming resistors are installed for dimming, but rather a constant current source. By combining 5000K (cool white) diodes with a new 430 nm chip, 3500K (warm white) diodes with a classic 450 nm chip, and 660 nm (red) diodes, not only is an optimal spectrum for plant growth achieved, but also a pleasant, neutral white light color with very high color rendering (CRI ~90). Due to the flattened plateau in the blue range (double-peak), this radiation is more plant-available at the same intensity and colors appear more natural.
In addition to these diodes, which emit visible light, so-called "Far Red" infrared diodes with 730nm are also installed (absolutely unique in this price segment!). These produce light in the so-called near-infrared spectrum, which is invisible to humans but stimulates important physiological processes in plants. Especially for the often beautifully patterned plants of the undergrowth, these wavelengths are important for leaf coloration and lead to an increase in biomass in many plants, which in turn allows more light to be captured (see e.g., Wenqing et al. 2021).
The beam angle is 120°, thus illuminating the target object very evenly. If you maintain several terrariums next to each other, e.g. on a shelf, you can also illuminate them with the Jungle Lux Linear lamps. For a lot of overall power, it is best to use the Jungle Lux Linear Plus. You can find out which grow light is right for which application in our comparative blog .
If you want to learn more about the correct lighting for houseplants in general, you can read our detailed blog on the subject.
The lamp comes complete with power supply and integrated timer/dimmer.
The lamp is not splash-proof.
Please note: When operated with a standard timer, the lamp can only be automatically controlled at the highest setting.
